On December 19th, 2009, I cried and cried and cried. Why? Because I am a sucker for love! As one of the wedding day coordinators, I had the privilege of making sure that day went smoothly for Amber & David Stephens. From finding the missing Tylenol (not to be confused with the upset stomach medicine), to tracking down the Maid of Honor’s keys and a lighter that worked for longer than 2 seconds, to keeping the photographer on schedule, the day was full of minor challenges. But everything faded to black when Amber was waiting at the top of the stairs with her father ready for us to open the doors so she could walk the aisle.
As I watched through the small window of the door, I was comforted to see that I wasn’t the only one with tears in their eyes. The best feeling in the world to me is to know that I put out fires, both big and small, that brides didn’t even know existed. Tough financial times hit future brides every day and a lot of things seem out of the budget. Just try to make sure that you have someone in your corner that day that will fix all the things you don’t want to hear or know about. And make sure they care enough to cry tears of joy with everyone else!

Of course every woman wants to get fit before their big day. After a while, though, the gym gets very boring. How about pole dancing classes? Yes, I said pole dancing classes. These classes have become really popular of late. They even offer them at LA Fitness. Well, I just received a discount alert for Dance 411 Studios in Atlanta, GA. The offer hip-hop, jazz, salsa, swing dance, belly dance, lyrical, ballet, tango, pole dance lessons, stiletto dance lessons, African dance lessons, yoga instruction, pilates instruction, boot camp and exercise instruction, kids & teens dance lessons, couples dance lessons, ballroom, & more. Groupon.com is offering $75 worth of classes for only $29.

For $29, new students get four pole-dancing or Ladies Liberation classes at
Dance 411 Studios (an up to $75 value). You can use all four on the same class, or spread them out across a variety of titillating tutorials. Click

You hear stories of couples using unique and creative ways to finance the wedding of their dreams. Critics will often say, “Just go down to the court house or a local church for free!”. However, couples don’t want to sacrifice the wedding of their dreams because of their finances (which I hope this blog helps show them how to do that. One Spokane couple has come up with yet another inventive idea). How are they raising and saving money? By recycling cans!

Their gaol is simple and grand at the same time: to recycle
400,000 cans which equals about 5 tons of aluminum, worth about
$3,800. On their
website you can read about their story, track their progress and even donate to the cause. As of today they are
20% to their goal!

Alan Friedman is one of the most creative and friendly photographers I have met. As a bride, you put a lot of trust in a lot of vendors. Brides worry the most about their photographers. When the day is said and done, it’s your pictures that help you relive one of the most memorable days of your life. Having only been photographing weddings for about 2 years, Alan’s talent and eye for a captivatingly unique photo has been developed quickly.
Alan loves photographing weddings because they allow him to with a mixture of creativity and photojournalism. He enjoys meeting people, getting to know them, and capturing their personalities in his work. His main inspiration for my work is my hope to capture something truly genuine. His work tends to be very down-to-earth and accessible.
Alan Friedman has been gracious enough to offer a 10% discount on all wedding packages for bookings made by December 31, 2009 to all of our readers. You can visit him at www.dalanfriedman.com and mention “Lavish Designs On A Dime” to receive your discount. Alan will travel anywhere in the U.S. Travel, however, fees apply for locations over 100 miles outside Atlanta.
