Trend Watch
Friday, November 6th, 2009

This season’s hottest trends for fashion are ruffles and the color grey. These are two trends that I am more than willing to follow (even after they aren’t officially trends anymore). How can you incorporate these trends into your wedding? The most obvious answer is in your dress. Many wedding dresses have graced the runway this year featuring ruffles, the color grey or both. Another way is to have greys as your color palette for the reception. Although this may sound drab, it can actually be very chic. If only using grey isn’t your thing, try using it with a pop of color like purple, orange or red!

So many styles to choose from…
Thursday, November 5th, 2009

So as a “vertically challenged” woman, it took a lot of thought to find the best dress style for my body type. Shopping can become tedious very quickly if you don’t realize that not everyone looks good in everything. More importantly, there are styles that look best on your body type. You just have to figure out that style. I found this video that walks you through the different dress styles so that you can pick the best one for you. Happy Shopping!

The great thing is that dresses are IN this year! Not only does that mean a lot more beautiful options for everyday wear, but for bridesmaids dresses, engagement photo outfits and honeymoon outfits.

Never say “Updo”
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

As you probably know already, whenever you say the word wedding to any vendor, the price automatically shoots up. I like to keep the word “wedding” to myself until the last possible minute.

Another word to stay away from is “updo”. When you go to get your hair done for the wedding, you don’t have to go to a high priced salon and get a high priced wedding do. Planning ahead (like always) goes a long way.

My tips to a lavish hair style for less:
1. Of course do a practice run.
2. Find a SuperCuts, Hair Cuttery or another salon you can trust to for a simple service.
3. Get a roller set. Curls are the starting point for most fancy hair styles.
5. Buy bobby pins that match your hair color. They come in all shades to match blondes, brunettes, and even grays.
4. Go home and have fun. Find pictures, narrow them down and practice. You can do more than you know. Don’t be overwhelmed because most looks are easy to emulate.
5. Go to a wholesale jewelry place to find a nice studded piece for your hair. Many wholesale places will sell you just one piece for less than $20.

Here are some lavish hair styles that anyone can do with a little practice:

Lavish Dresses on a dime
Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

When I began looking for my wedding dress, I went to a major wedding dress retailer. When I was looking through the bridesmaid dress options, I was overwhelmed by the amount of generic looking dresses and the high price tag. As you know, I am not a fan of either. That is why I ended up choosing bridesmaids dresses from an unconventional store.

You can find dresses that you love and are affordable if you step out of the box of major wedding dress retailers. The following dresses are from White House Black Market. This major clothing retailer is an upscale option that is available in just about every major city as well as online. The store also provides beautiful clothing at great sales prices. Here are some bridesmaids options…
